Fee structure
Holdy charges a single protection fee paid by the buyer. Sellers keep 100% of the deal amount.
| Deal amount | Buyer fee |
| Up to €250 | 8% |
| €250 – €1,000 | 6.5% |
| €1,000 – €5,000 | 5% |
No monthly fees. No per-deal signup fees. No payout fees on Holdy’s side — though Stripe may charge standard card processing fees separately to the seller.
What the fee covers
- Secure payment holding via Stripe
- Dispute review by our team
- Platform infrastructure (delivery hashing, chat, notifications)
- VAT invoicing & 7-year record keeping
Payment methods
Checkout runs on Stripe. Available methods depend on your country:
- Cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro (worldwide)
- iDEAL — Netherlands
- Bancontact — Belgium
- SEPA Direct Debit — EU/EEA
- Apple Pay, Google Pay — on compatible devices
- Klarna / Afterpay — select markets, for eligible deal sizes
3D Secure (SCA) is triggered automatically where required by PSD2. Expect a short additional verification step from your bank for many European cards.
When sellers get paid
Funds move in four stages:
- Buyer pays — funds charged, held by Stripe (not Holdy)
- You deliver — via Holdy for hashed/timestamped proof
- Buyer confirms (or 7-day auto-release fires) — Holdy triggers the transfer from the held balance to your connected Stripe account
- Stripe payout — funds leave Stripe and arrive in your bank account based on your payout schedule
Default Stripe payout schedule is daily (so ~1 business day from confirmation). You can set it to weekly, monthly, or manual in your Stripe dashboard.
When payouts can be delayed
- Pending balance vs available balance — new Stripe accounts often have a 7-day delay on first payouts
- Country-specific bank holidays
- Stripe risk reviews on unusual activity
Check your Stripe dashboard for live payout status.
Invoices & VAT
After every paid deal, Holdy issues a VAT-compliant invoice for the protection fee. You’ll get it by email with a PDF attachment, and you can download any past invoice from your dashboard under Invoices.
VAT handling
Holdy’s seat of business is the Netherlands (WebInstal, BTW NL003349213B03). Based on your billing address and VAT ID during checkout:
- NL buyer — 21% Dutch VAT
- EU consumer (non-NL) — 21% NL VAT (OSS scope applies beyond €10k/yr)
- EU business with valid VAT ID — 0% reverse charge (art. 196 Directive 2006/112/EC)
- Non-EU buyer — 0% export of services
Stripe validates EU VAT IDs against VIES automatically during checkout. If it passes, your invoice will show the reverse charge notice and 0% VAT.
Seller income
Your sales to buyers are a separate transaction between you and the buyer — Holdy doesn’t invoice the deal amount to the buyer on your behalf. You may still need to issue your own invoices depending on your local tax rules.
